The barbed wire fence was cut after the war that had raged for half a century came crashing to a halt. People from both sides rushed to the centre and hugged each other. Tears flowed openly, there was no shame or enmity anymore.
Task forces were created – farmers, craftsmen, and tradesmen were hurriedly assembled and responsibilities were given. Children from both sides played together, young women and men exchanged shy glances. The war-ravaged land was going to prosper.
All the old Gods were discarded and love was proclaimed as the only God.
All it took was a zombie apocalypse!

If only that could be true – minus the zombie part. Your story sounds so ideal.

Really? Is that what it’s going to take? Not zombies! But, the end result of coming together to rebuild humanity was inspiring. =) Well-done!

Haha a possible sequel to the zombie story I wrote last week.
This reminded me of the Berlin wall coming down. You captured the joy well.

I was thinking it may have been North and South Korea, I guess a zombie apocalypse is possible anywhere. Good stuff

It could be just about anywhere. Possible indeed. Thanks 🙂

Even if this happens, how long would that peace last? Says a lot about us humans, eh?

Or Aliens.
Or common sense …
But both seem to be in short supply these days …
Well done piece!

If that’s what it takes, bring on the Zombies I say. Nice one Varad.

Ugh. Horrible to consider the bloodshed required to create the peace. And one wonders how long it’s going to take for human nature to rise above the rosy-colored love.

Dear Varad,
Nice story…we do need something to unite us and bring peace. Although I have reservations about a Zombie Apocalypse. 😉 Nicely done.

We need a huge mental shakeup to get to the point where everyone works together. All you need is LOVE. No boundaries. No worship but the good of each other. Sigh.
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie

Knowing our history, even this price might not be enough. Who knows what they’ll start if they get rid of the zombies?
